Great Dog Books

If you own a dog or likes dogs or just like great books about dogs, Cesar’s Way by Cesar Milan is the read for you. I wish every dog owner that I sold a puppy too would read this book. In my opinion, Cesar Milan knows more about dogs than anyone I have ever known.

Personally I have studied Animal Behavior (horses in particular) since 1970. Behavior is universal. Understanding the uniqueness of different species is an interesting challenge.

Being able to speak and related to another species is a life long passion. Cesar has this passion for dogs and I envy this knowledge. Cesar is a teacher and willingly shares his knowledge for the betterment of the relationship between humans and horse. This is truly the mark of a “whisperer”.

Marley and Me

I think this is the title of the book. What a great dog book! While I think that Cesar might could have helped Marley, this book scored a 10 with me. It made me laugh. It made me thoughtful. It made me cry.

Even though Marley is a lab I think this book could help us all understand our dogs better. Salute! Marley!!

Here are some other dog books that are highly related:

Childproofing Your Dog (and it’s sister book, Dogproofing Your Child), by Brian Kilcommons.

*How To Raise a Puppy You Can Live With, by Rutherford and Neil

*Don’t Shoot the Dog!, by Karen Pryor (she is the queen of clicker training)

*Culture Clash, by Jean Donaldson (this is not so much a training book,as one oriented towards understanding dogs)

*Calming Signals: on talking terms with dogs, by Turid Rugaas
